Jackets You Need For Fall

With Fall just around the corner, and the best sale of the year underway, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to talk about jackets you need for Fall. I’m sharing five that I’ve styled, plus five more that you’ll definitely be seeing on me, soon. If you buy them now, you can start incorporating them into your outfits on cooler days or nights. As the temperatures continue to drop, you can layer under them (or even over them) to continue to wear them and get a ton of great use out of them.

A CLASSIC LEATHER JACKET

A classic leather jacket is a must in any wardrobe. This one is even better in my opinion, because it is the most amazing quality vegan leather. Last year it came out in several colors, but first and foremost you need to stock your closet with a classic black option. I love the moto style of this one, as it’s my favorite style to layer over dresses. I am also obsessed with the gold hardware on it. This one is under $65! Seriously an insane deal. You may recall I had this jacket in a lavender color last Spring (seen here) and I’m just hoping they keep coming out with more colors, because I can’t get enough.

A MILITARY JACKET

Year after year military seems to be in style in one way or another. I love any take on a green military jacket (see this post). It’s so easy to throw on as a layer and can be dressed up or down. One of my favorite ways to style a military jacket is with a simple black and white striped t-shirt.

A VELVET JACKET

Velvet is such a lux, classic fabric for when the temps drop. This jacket creates an instantly amazing outfit over a white t-shirt and jeans. I die for the gold detailing! It is such an amazing quality and a really great price. If the gold detailing is too much for your taste, opt for a solid option. I love the classic black, but also adore a deep burgundy velvet or rich blue velvet jacket. Blazers look amazing in velvet, too.

A CLASSIC TRENCH

Lets talk about never going out of style, because the trench coat is just that. A light tan color matches everything, is perfect during those cooler, but not yet freezing months, and is so effortless. Splurge on the most classic choice of all, or score a deal from any of those below that are currently on sale. This is a closet essential and is the first thing I reach for on a rainy day! This is a time to invest, because you’ll wear it forever. Not all of the ones below are on sale, but several are– so you can definitely find one in your price range to add to your wardrobe.

A PLAID JACKET FOR LAYERING

Plaid was made for Fall. It’s in style again and again each year and is such a go-to for me. I love this style jacket, because even though its closer to a wool fabric, it’s rather light weight. The sleeves are cropped, so it’s easy to carry along side a dress when it is warmer in the day time, then throw on when it cools off at night. I love the longer length on this one! Any plaid jacket option is great for Fall and will be a piece that you not only wear a ton this year, but for years to come.

A BOMBER JACKET

Bombers are the epitome of effortless cool style. As you can tell from this post and this post, I’m a big fan. I wear bombers countless ways: with athleisure, over a tshirt with sneakers, dressed up with heels, and even over a dress.

A SUEDE JACKET

Suede is another fabric that just epitomizes Fall. This rich red color was too good to pass up, but just in case it’s too bold for you, this one comes in a gorgeous gray and tan. I have a feeling it will be available in several more soon, too. This was THE it jacket last year and for good reason. I’d wear this red one to support my college football team or out for date night. I love that you can dress this up or down. It looks adorable with sneakers, heels, and booties!

A CLASSIC DENIM JACKET

I can’t even round up all the posts that include a denim jacket. It’s the easiest choice when you need to layer. I even wear a denim jacket layered under a leather one as it gets even colder. I never leave town without my denim jacket and have it with me at work almost every day. They go with EVERYthing and I never get sick of wearing them. I like to have a few different ones in my closet, varying both in washes in and styles, but a classic one is a must for your closet. If you don’t have one that you’re absolutely obsessed with, get one now. If you already have a classic one, try changing it up with a distressed one, a moto style one, or an embellished one. Several of these are on sale, but regardless, they are all great price points.

A BOLD STATEMENT JACKET

I saw this and thought OMG. Then I put it back because I told myself to be practical. Twenty minutes passed while I continued shopping and I couldn’t stop thinking about it so I just went for it. Why? Because your closet needs a good statement jacket. I kept the rest of my outfit simple in my daily uniform (jeans and a tshirt) because this jacket speaks for itself. Metallics are still very much on trend this season, but just in case metallics aren’t your thing, don’t worry. There are so many kinds of statement jackets you can add to your wardrobe, like this one with floral embroidery.

A PUFFER JACKET

I saved this one for last because you’ll need it later in the Fall as it turns to Winter. I think this is an essential in your jacket wardrobe, because it’s perfect for athleisure looks. I prefer to work out in tank tops no matter the season so I’m not restricted, so I love having these jackets to throw on over my workout clothes to take my pup for a walk. It’s so easy to layer with a puffer jacket as the temps continue to drop. All of those I’ve included below are currently on sale.
