Summer Morning Skincare Routine

Finally sharing my spring morning skincare routine including all the products I'm currently using & the order in which I apply them for maximum results.

I think one of the biggest game changers for my skin this past year has been sticking to a consistent morning skincare routine. This year I’ve been prioritizing skincare over makeup more than ever. I’d rather invest more time & money into my actual skin & improving it, rather than a quick fix with make up. Today, I’m sharing all about my summer morning skincare routine including the products I use & the order in which I use them.

SUMMER MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

I love to try new products so I feel like I am often switching up my routine, which is why I titled this post my ‘summer morning skincare routine.’ By the time fall rolls around I’m sure I’ll have at least one new product in the line up. One thing I do feel like that sets me a part from a lot of people is I will use a product for at least thirty days (if not waiting until the bottle is empty) before sharing it with you all. I want to be sure that I notice a true difference and I personally believe that it takes time to truly see lasting results. Also, I think that different seasons call for different products. I tend to need to exfoliate more & use heavier moisturizers in the winter, where I may like lighter products for the summer.

CURRENT ROUTINE

Tula Cleanser

I’ve been using this cleanser for awhile. I think it works so well & I love how long it lasts. It’s not too greasy, which I love. It helps keep my skin clear & is a cult favorite for a reason. You can get 20% off any Tula products using code ALO20 on their site.

The Daily

I started using this two or three months ago & absolutely love it. It’s loaded with essential vitamins for your skin & I’ve noticed a big difference in the evenness of my skin since I started using this. Beauty Bio is the genius brand behind the Glo Pro (that I love). I met their founder at rStheCon this past year & she has probably the most insane skin I’ve ever seen, so naturally I’ll use whatever she makes to try & have mine be at least half as glowy & gorgeous as hers.

CF Gel

I’ll be honest– this was sent to me I don’t even know how long ago & I just had it in my beauty closet until around January. I saw someone else talking about their cult favorite beauty products & this was on the list. I remembered I had it & immediately started trying it into my own routine. Needless to say, I’m hooked! It works so well & lasts a long time. It has a steeper price tag, but I’ve been using it almost every day for five months now & have barely made a dent in the bottle, so it’s one of those product you would probably only have to invest in once a year or so.

Day Serum

This was named one of the best beauty products of 2018 & I 100% see why. I love this stuff! You can actually feel it working. My skin feels so much firmer after using it & so moisturized. If I do nothing else besides sunscreen & lipgloss in the morning, this is it. Obsessed.

Brightening Oil

This brightening oil smells so good & works so well! I started using this a few months ago in an effort to clean up some of my skincare routine & I’m a huge fan. This entire brand is committed to the cleanest ingredients so you can’t really go wrong with anything. This is one of my favorite products from them that I’ve tried so far!

Radiance Oil

I’ve always heard the best things about rose hip oil so I had to try this face oil that contains rose hip as a main ingredient. It smells amazing & works great! I love layering oils & while this one is a newer one in my routine, its quickly become a favorite for both day & night.

Very Clear Moisturizer

I’ve been using this for years & have no plans to stop. It helped clear up my skin & helps keep it clear. It’s so rich & a little goes a long way. I find this at Whole Food or order a few at a time of Amazon because I know I’ll use them one day. I never want to not have it on hand because any time I’ve gone a few days without it I notice. This product was a game changer for me.

Unseen Sunscreen

I started using this a year or so ago & haven’t been able to quit it. It works as a sunscreen & a make up primer, so it’s a great two in one product. It’s clear (hence the ‘unseen’ name) & doesn’t leave any gross white residue. Plus, this entire brand is clean. This is my fan sunscreen brand!

Lip Glossy

I use this morning, noon, & night. I absolutely love how moisturized it leaves my lips. I love the smell, too. It’s all natural, easy, & I really keep one in every bag + a few places around the house so it’s always on hand.

ORDER MATTERS

It’s not just about the skincare you use, but the order you use it in. Yes, order matters when it comes to skincare. Sure, things will still work, but you’ll maximize their effectiveness if you put them on in the correct order. I made a little graphic for you all to save so you can keep up with the basic morning & nighttime order that you should apply your skincare in.

OTHER ROUTINES

This routine is what I use daily, but I also think it’s important to share a few things I do on a weekly or monthly basis that help. First up, you’ve probably seen or heard me talk about dermaplaning, AKA my favorite routine beauty procedure. I get it done every month at Enlighten MD in Dallas. It’s something I’ve been doing for two years now & I swear by it. It gets rid of all the peach fuzz & dead skin + helps my skincare & makeup go on so much better. Read all about dermaplaning in the secret to baby smooth skin post I shared around our wedding.

I also drink a ton of water, take vitamins, eat mostly plant based, & stick to a consistent night time skincare routine. I’ll be sharing all about that with you here on the blog, soon, so stay tuned! XO

I’m obsessed with anything drunk elephant! Also love that you put the correct order in a simple worksheet-it’s super important to do it so all your products can absorb correctly!
