I came back from NYFW feeling a little tired, but mostly inspired. I always love the energy of the city and being there for fashion week only added to it. Whether it’s to be more true to my own vision, to give myself credit when it’s due, or to add a fun new trend to my wardrobe I am taking quiet a few ideas and goals back home with me. Today, I’m sharing with you 7 clothing trends for Fall in hopes to inspire each of you and help you add a little refresh to your closet!
METALLICS

I mix metals in everything from my wedding band stack to home decor and fashion is totally on board this year. Metallics are having a major moment in every shade from silver and copper to gold and rose gold. I can’t get enough! The trick to this trend is to pick a statement piece and go with it. Don’t try to wear too many metallic clothing items at once and instead, have fun with your accessories.
VELVET

I love texture for the cooler months and velvet is dominating this year. From dresses to jackets and booties or purses, it’s every where. I used to prefer darker velvet this time of year, but this year it seems to be all about the bolder colors. If you’re unsure of where to start, consider starting with accessories like a simple black bag!
BLAZERS

One of the most classic wardrobe pieces ever is fresher than ever. Whether you’re just wearing a bralette underneath with a belt to hold it together, a blazer dress, or a blazer with a t-shirt and jeans, you really can’t go wrong. Any color, fabric, or pattern works with a blazer which makes it all the more easy to rock.
DECONSTRUCTED

Think little slits here and there in your clothing, but in a chic way, not in a oops I ripped this sort of way. Whether it’s one subtle deconstructed accent or an entire shoulder missing, this trend keeps your classic pieces interesting. You can also refresh some button down pieces in your closet by wearing them off the shoulder for a more deconstructed look.
FRILLS & FLORALS

Dark florals are every where and so are frills. I’m not normally into frilly and girly things, but I love the depth that ruffles add to clothing. I like to edge mine up with booties, an unexpected accessory, or a leather jacket.
SLEEPWEAR

I shared the pajama top trend with you all a few months ago, but its only growing. Think entire outfits, dresses, or longline robe jackets in silky materials. I’m so on board with being able to wear my PJs in public. Just be sure that it doesn’t look like you actually rolled out of bed. Chic up your look a little bit with layers, heels, or some jewelry.
RED

Red is always in style for me in the Fall because of my college football team (Go Hogs!), but this year, everyone is rocking it. I love this color! The trend isn’t just a subtle red lip or a little hand bag either. It is BOLD red pieces and several of them layered together. I can’t wait to play around with this more whether it’s by matching different shades or pairing red accessories with a red dress.
I combined several of these trends throughout the week. For example, with my green deconstructed turtle neck dress, I wore metallic gold booties. With my pajama trend look, I wore metallic sneakers. There are so many ways to incorporate these trends together and rep them all without ‘overdoing’ it. Don’t forget to see yesterday’s post for Fall’s biggest accessory trend and one of my personal favorite trends for the upcoming season! XO
