You all probably saw my post on my first trimester recap after I announced that we’re expecting. I got into the good, bad, & ugly of the first trimester. It’s such a weird time where you are so excited, yet nervous & likely aren’t sharing the news with everyone. This also means you aren’t able to get some advice on how to help those pesky first trimester symptoms. Don’t worry! I got you girl. Today, I am talking all about my first trimester essentials & sharing the products that helped me remedy some of my worst first trimester symptoms to make it through.
First Trimester Essentials
I have gotten quite a few things to help me manage all the things that come with the first trimester, so I thought I would share in hopes that they help someone else one day. I’m rounding up all the products I used in a collage below. You can click on any item to shop it!
One thing I learned is that eating breakfast was essential. I used to not really eat it or would eat it way later & that has certainly changed. I eat breakfast & take my prenatal within an hour or so of getting up & this has been such a game changer. I’ve been taking these prenatal vitamins since I got off birth control before we even started trying & love them. They don’t taste bad & have a no nausea capsule, so you can take them on an empty stomach. Also, eating small meals throughout the day helped when I was most nauseous. Snacking is really helpful for making sure I don’t get too hungry & feel sick!
Ginger tea first thing was also so helpful. Charles would boil water with fresh ginger & lemon. He’d strain it, then add honey! It’s so good & also helped oh so much with nausea. Highly recommend, especially if you have someone who can make it for you! I also kept my prenatal vitamins on my bedside table along with some easy to eat food (carbs were key) to have with my ginger tea.
Since obviously immunity is extra important right now, I’ve continued to take my Elderberry + Zinc vitamins every day. They have Vitamin C, too which is great since my prenatal doesn’t. I cannot say enough good things about those motion sickness wrist bands. They along with all things ginger, are truly the only reason I got anything done during the first trimester! My worst symptom even more so than extreme tiredness & nausea was breast or even more so, nipple pain. Any time I’d get cold, which is often– especially in the dead of winter– they would hurt SO bad. These breast pads you can warm in the micro & wear in your bra are the only thing that helped. They were a god send!!
Hopefully this helps those of you who are expecting! Be sure to read my first trimester recap for more on my symptoms, what I cutout, & my workouts. Also, check out my second trimester essentials & third trimester essentials to help you make it through the rest of pregnancy. You got this, mama! If I can help in any way, please reach out. There were so many women who helped me along the way whether it was some encouraging words or a quick tip like taking magnesium for sleep or leg cramps. I am forever grateful & happy to pay it forward! XO
