Does anything scream take me on a wine + cheese picnic more than a gorgeous Spring or Summer day and anything gingham printed? I think not. (I’m fine with wine and cheese any time, any where, and wearing anything for the record) Gingham is often a preppy-style print. Clearly, I am not a person with a preppy-style. I love seeing gingham styled on a girl who is on the preppy side with a midi skirt or a pop of color. It’s so classic and fun! Since I love the print, but don’t fall into the traditional preppy category, I wanted to show how to style it with a bit of an edge. This print is everywhere right now, so I’m obviously not the only one geeking out over gingham. Make sure you scroll on down to the end of this post.. there is a GIVEAWAY for a gorgeous handbag that you are NOT going to want to miss.
A leather moto jacket is the simplest way to add edge to any look. It’s perfect for the transition between colder to warmer seasons, too. I love pairing a moto with a floral print or a brighter color for a little juxtaposition of styles. It helps those similar styles to me be able to wear some more girly pieces without completely giving up our day-to-day look. The little ruffle on the edge of these shorts added even more of a girly touch, so I kept adding some edge with my cut out booties. My go-to layered chokers, a black leather chain link bag, and mirrored sunnies for a pop of color completed the outfit.
If you’re playing with gingham, try pairing a button down with a distressed jean or shorts and a bootie. Pair a jumpsuit with a heeled bootie and add on some gold/silver jewelry. I think chokers give any outfit a cool factor, but if you’re going to opt for earrings then try for a more neutral earring. If you want to add color, do it with a bright lip, your sunnies, or even a bag. I wore this romper with a burgundy clutch the other day and loved that combination, too.
This romper has been selling quickly, so I went ahead and made a little ‘gingham shop’ for you guys. Everything from bags to dresses and rompers to swimsuits are below. I looked on all my favorite sites and picked my favorite items with the best price points. If you snag one of these pieces and aren’t sure how to style it– feel free to reach out! I’m always happy to give my input. XO
