ICYMI, yesterday on Instagram I announced the gender of Baby Roscopf! We’ve known for a few weeks now, but I was waiting to share until after we could snap a pic together. The snowstorm in Dallas pushed everything back, so sorry for keeping you all waiting! Today, I’m finally sharing our gender reveal with you all.
Gender Reveal
Below I’m sharing more about our gender reveal & nursery plans including how we found out, how we are feeling about it, & our plans for the baby’s room now that we know what we are having.
I am 18 weeks tomorrow, so instead of waiting until our 20 week ultrasound, we found out the gender early through a blood test that looks at the risk for some potential genetic conditions called the NIPS tests. It’s not at all invasive (just requires you to give about 8 viles of blood) & in addition to finding out if you have a higher likelihood for certain genetic conditions, you can find out baby’s gender early. Luckily, everything came back normal so we didn’t have to do any follow up testing & we got to know baby’s gender sooner. I guess we’ve known for close to 4 weeks now!
My best friend goes to the sam OBGYN as I do, so after they called to tell us that all looked good, they called her to tell her the gender. I didn’t want to do a big gender reveal, so I just asked my best friend to write it in a card & come over with cupcakes from our mutually favorite spot for us to eat.
After chatting with my other best friend (who is her sister in law) they decided that was boring & we at least had to do SOMEthing fun. So, she had a bowl of about 30 fortune cookies & added a second piece of paper inside one with the gender written on it. We had to go through & crack them all open to find the one with two. However, we went through all of them without finding the second fortune because it was tucked in the side so we had to go back through them all again! If you go to this post on my Instagram, you can swipe & see a video I shared of it all.
While going back through all the fortunes, we saw a real fortune that had the word ‘boy’ on the back of it.We asked if that was it & they told us no, it wasn’t an actual fortune & to keep looking. We did & shortly after found the one she had put in that said ‘IT’S A BOY!’ We think it’s so crazy that of all the words on the back of fortunes that one of them had the word ‘boy’ on it, too. We’ll definitely be playing those lottery numbers!
We’re so excited to be having a little boy! Truly, I always saw myself as a boy mom. Despite loving clothes & makeup, I’m not a super big girly girl. I can’t stand the color pink so I could have only imagined me trying to keep it out of our house for as long as possible! haha Also, Charles is the last ‘Roscopf’ so now his family name will carry on, which is really exciting! Right when we got engaged his grandfather, who has sense passed away, said that we’d have to have a little boy to carry on the Roscopf name, so I’m sure he’s smiling down knowing there will be a little one coming soon!
Truly, we would have been excited either way. We just want a healthy baby! If you missed it, I shared that of 14 of the girls in my group of friends from my sorority that have kids, 24/27 are boys & none of them have had a girl first. We were Kappa Kappa Gammas & the colors are blue & blue, which is so crazy! Ours will make it 25/28 as boys & keeping the boy first streak alive. It’s so crazy!
We have had both boy & girl names picked out for a while. I’m not positive if we’ll share before he is born, but I am thinking so! We won’t share the girl name just in case we end up having one down the road if we have another baby.
I’ll be sharing our nursery design & plan tomorrow, so check back for that! I’ve been so excited to share it because we have already started to get in some of what we’ve ordered. Plus, I can’t wait to finally share some of the adorable clothes I’ve ordered!! Eeeek. I told you all when I announced that I was pregnant that I felt like I was keeping a secret from you all & this was the same! I love that you all are so supportive & share in our excitement with us. It really makes it even MORE exciting! So, thank you. If you have any questions at all, as always feel free to reach out! I love chatting & am an open book.
I got this spring dress to wear for our little gender announcement, but our photos got pushed back because of the snow storms & by the time we took them it barely zipped. Truly, I thought I was going to need to find something else to wear, haha! If you’re needing a blue dress or a pink dress for a gender reveal or even a baby shower, check out this post for some ideas. I included both casual dresses & day to night dresses. XO
Congratulations! Can’t wait to see the baby! 🙂
