That’s right people, less than two months until our wedding day! Our date is 07/01/2017 and when I looked down at the calendar last week and saw 05/01 I sort of gasped. Where did the last few months go?! It seems that every year goes faster than the first and this one was certainly no exception. Realizing there are less than two months until the big day left me with a lot racing through my mind. When writing wedding posts, I focus on “us,” “we,” and “our” because it is not just my wedding. It is mine and my fiancé’s and it has always been very important to me that I keep the focus on that. While the bride often dreams of this day long before the groom, it is still important to me that both of our opinions are heard. However, today, I’m sharing all about me and how I am feeling leading up our big day by breaking down the thoughts that went through my head last week.
I need to start doing cardio and eating reallllyyy healthy.
A nice thought, because as I type this I am eating spaghetti. Hey, at least I used gluten free noodles. Seriously though. I go to Palm Springs next weekend and after that, a Whole 30 begins and maybe even a few Master Cleanse, Bone Broth, Liquid only days. I think my upcoming dress fitting this weekend will only help fuel my motivation. Or, let’s hope.
I need to find a veil. And Jewelry. And finalize outfits.
These are just a few details that I need to decide on. I have outfits for our welcome party, our rehearsal dinner, and of course, the wedding, but I need accessories for all. As I mentioned last week, I already have wedding shoes and this week I think I finalized my rehearsal dinner shoe decision, so I just need some for our welcome party. I also need accessories for each of these and to decide on my look in terms of hair/makeup for each.
I really need to practice my make up.
I’ve mentioned before that since we are having a destination wedding, I’ll be doing my own makeup. I’ve looked into make up artists, but I wouldn’t be able to trial them until a few days before, so if I didn’t love them, I’d be back at square one needing to do my own makeup, but would be feeling much more stressed about it. Learning to do it on my own not only allows me to be sure I know what to expect, but it will let me improve my skills! I had a makeup lesson the other weekend before a black tie event and while I learned a lot, I know that practice makes perfect. I need to order some more products, take some time to watch a few more You Tube videos, and practice, practice, practice.
WE NEED TO FINALIZE A FEW wedding details + OUR HONEYMOON
We like to book trips in phases. So, with regard to our honeymoon, we first decided all the places we are going. Next, we decided on hotels. Followed by restaurants, activities, and transportation. Hotels are booked in each place and next we are working on restaurants and activities. We have them finalized for our first stop and are slowly finishing the others. We also have a few things we need to finalize for our wedding: dinner lighting, DJ equipment + music selections, transportation for rehearsal dinner & photos, etc. However, the Italians seem to be pretty darn chill about things, so we are embracing that mentality. It’s been so great! If we forget something, we’ll figure it out there. I keep joking about the beauty of such a small wedding, because if we want to change the time of our ceremony on the day of, we could even easily do that. And truthfully, we haven’t even decide on a time yet. It will allll get done and it will all turn out just fine. I love doing things like this gradually and the chill Italian mindset has definitely made it easier!
WHEN WILL THE STRESS SET IN?
Everyone talks about how stressful wedding planning is and that it gets more stressful as it gets closer. Initially, it was stressful to decide upon a budget and location. However, once we nailed that down, it’s been pretty darn easy so far. People keep asking if it is more stressful to plan a destination wedding and really, my response is “I don’t think so.” There isn’t too much to worry about. Like, if my flowers don’t turn out as planned.. then I have crappy flowers in Florence. If our DJ isn’t good, then I’ll plug in my iPhone or we’ll go out to the clubs. I just don’t know how you could have a bad time in such a magical place. I’ve experienced some stress about hurting people’s feelings or some people not being able to make it, but.. I’m oh so thankful to one of my girlfriends for asking me one day, “If you were a billionaire, what would you change about your wedding? Nothing except for being able to fly everyone there, right?” And she was and is SO right. Our wedding is a dream come true. Sure, we’ll be missing some key people, but in the end, its what we want to do. So, I’ll just be waiting and wondering if the extreme stress will set in for me. Some say it happens the week of, but since I’ll be in Rome and Florence eating pizza, pasta, and gelato and drinking wine surrounded by some of my favorite people, I don’t imagine I’ll experience too much!
I can’t wait for this next phase of life.
Cheesy, perhaps. But, I can’t. I was never in a rush to get engaged or even to plan a wedding. I asked whether we should save to buy a house first before either milestone. However, now that we are at this point, after about five-and-a-half years of being together, I can’t wait to be husband and wife. It may sound cliche, but my fiancé truly is my biggest supporter and best friend. We’ve had so many amazing experiences and memories together, that I just can’t wait to see what else is to come for us. This thought, the one of what every little thing related to a wedding leads to: becoming husband and wife, is what makes me take a deep breath in and out any time I may feel any stress related to our wedding. At the end of the day, we are there to get married and in comparison to that, other little details just don’t matter.
All in all, I’m feeling great as our wedding approaches. I’ve learned a lot throughout the process. I ultimately seem to care most about things like fashion and photography in regards to our wedding, rather than place settings, chairs, or party decor. Also, I’ve learned a lot about people. I’ve always heard people will surprise you in a lot of ways before your wedding. For example, it’s true what they say, inevitably, people will disappoint you and not be there for you like you would think throughout your engagement or wedding planning process. I’m continually surprised by people giving unsolicited opinions or advice. However, I’ve learned to just let things go a lot more. I may vent here or there, but ultimately I know that sometimes people just don’t think before they speak or even act. I’ve also learned that striving for progress and not perfection is as important as ever. Have I gotten more in shape? Sure. Am I exactly where I want to be? No. Will I ever be? Who knows. Doubtful. I’m a constant goal setter and always strive to do better, so I doubt I’ll ever be one of those people that feel like I’ve completely met my goals. Will my makeup end up perfect? Nope. But, that’s okay. I’ll look like me, which is who my fiancé fell in love with and as long as I look like a better version of every day myself, then I’m good with that.

Okay, lets talk about this dress. This might be of the more girly things I’ve worn in years. Mom, aren’t you proud?! I love the weddings give you an excuse for that, though. When it comes to our wedding, I have been leaning to be on the more conservative and classic side. I love a good plunge top here and there, but overall, I think a classy bride is always in style. This dress would be perfect for engagement pictures, a bridal shower, or even a more casual rehearsal dinner. I kept it all white with my accessories and wore an ear jacket, because as classic as I like to be, I also enjoy a bit of an edge and choose to do that most often with my jewelry. A theme you’ll likely see carry through to some of my wedding week looks. This gorgeous dress is one of a few pieces sent to me c/o Zac Zac Posen and I just couldn’t help but twirl in it, as you can tell above!
If you have been married, I’d love to know how you felt leading up to your wedding! It’s so fun connecting with other brides and to hear stories from others when they were wedding planning. XO

Being low on the stress scale is great!! A wedding should be enjoyable, beautiful, but also for the two of YOU! Not about everyone else. The fact that you feel secure in where you’re at in planning is awesome!
