Sakara Life Meal Delivery

Sakara Life Review

Below is my honest Sakara Life Review including what it is, what I like about it, how much it costs, & some FAQs that I got from you all about the program!

What is Sakara Life?

Sakara Life is a plant-based, organic meal delivery service that is founded on the idea that food is supposed to be nourishment and medicine. Sakara isn’t a diet, it’s a lifestyle. It’s helping you learn to count nutrients and not calories, carbs, macros, or anything else. Instead of depriving yourself, you’re giving your body what it needs and can process easiest. It’s based on the following nine principles: don’t count calories, plant protein, eat your water, greens, good eats, eat the rainbow, nutrient dense, sulfur-rich veggies, and body intelligence. The website explains more of each of these in depth. All of the meals are plant based, organic, gluten free, dairy free, non GMO, and free of refined sugars.

Why Do It?

Personally, I have been trying to eat more plant based for awhile now. You can read more on why I’m trying to be more plant based. When at home, I try to avoid gluten and dairy (although cheese is my weakness) and am always on the hunt for more go to recipes or meal ideas that are plant based, full of nutrient rich foods, and are dairy and gluten free. My first time to try Sakara Life was after coming back from a long weekend in Miami. I had a crazy, busy work week ahead, so I knew I wouldn’t have a ton of time to cook, but wanted to eat really healthy to feel good again after my trip. I decided this would be the perfect time to pull the trigger and try Sakara Life!

Some people do Sakara Life as a week long detox here and there, to get ready for a trip/wedding/post-baby or to turn their lifestyle around, and others just incorporate it into their every day life whether through their meal delivery program or through products from their Clean Boutique.

Sakara Life FAQs

Below I am answering some FAQs I got from you all about Sakara. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll find out for you!

How Does Sakara Life Work?

You choose which meals you want to receive- breakfast, lunch, dinner– or just two of the three meals a day, and whether you want to do three or five days of meals. What is available depends on where you live. The meals arrive at your door 48 hours after they receive the ingredients, so you know everything is fresh. Your meals arrive in eco-friendly coolers or bags, depending on your location, with cooling packs. In addition to clean, ready-to-eat meals, you also get daily detox waters and teas.

Your location also determines when your meals arrive. They deliver to the 48 continental states and if you’re outside of NYC, you’ll likely receive your meals on Tuesday. Mine arrived around lunch on Tuesday and I had meals for that night through Friday at lunch.

Each week there is a different menu and you can make some customizations to what you receive up to a certain point before the meals are prepped. All meals come in recyclable, convenient containers. The meals don’t have to be heated, but some are even better when they are and they are marked if they recommend heating them. You do have to take them out of the packages and put them in microwave safe containers to heat them though. I loved that I could eat them cold or hot so no matter what my day was like, I could eat the meal anywhere.

How Much Does Sakara Life Cost?

The price depends upon your location, how many meals a day you do, and if you do three or five days, but for three meals a day it ranges from about $200 (for three full days) to $400ish (for five). Go to their site and enter in your info + your preferred meals & how many days to find out exactly what it would cost you and what is available based on your location. You can use my code: XOLAURENMR for a 20% off discount if you are a new customer.

Is Sakara Life Worth It?

The price is a higher than what I’d spend on groceries for a week for just myself, but the convenience of having all of my meals ready for the week was amazing. I think it’s comparable to picking up meals on the go for one for the week though. If you added up all that you’d spend on three meals out a week plus the other product you’re getting, this would be close in terms of value. You’re definitely getting healthier meals though!

Really, all of the meals were all delicious. I loved everything as a whole! There may have been one or two things in one of the meals that weren’t my favorite, but I did try new veggies or plants I hadn’t before! I found new things that I didn’t know were delicious. I loved all of the sauces and got so many great ideas for future meals I can recreate at home, too which I love. Update: a lot of their recipes are in their new book so you can create the exact same thing at home!

For me, this is something that I’ll keep in mind for times when I need to get back on track or when I have a super busy week and know that I won’t have a lot of time to cook healthy meals for myself and would typically find myself just eating whatever I could to save time. It’s definitely not something I would want to splurge on for all the weeks of the month. If I could, I certainly would though! Can you imagine how easy that would be? Livin’ that Beyonce life. I think certain times, like prepping for (or detoxing after) a vacation, before a wedding or after having a baby may be good times to justify doing it more long term though.

Were You Full?

Yes! I actually was surprised at how big the portions were and how full I was. I didn’t even finish some of the meals because I was so satisfied and full. Snacking between meals wasn’t necessary for me. I made tea as they suggested between the meals, but really was pleasantly surprised at how full I was. The meals are designed to give you over 200% of your daily fiber. They also give you 100% of your essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

What Would You Change?

As Sakara Life continues to expand, I hope to have more flexibility with meal ordering in my area. I would love to be able to go on and select just lunches for the week. It would also be nice just to be able to go in to get meals as needed. There are some things I love so much that I would love to be able to have them weekly! A store front in my area would be a game changer. A girl can dream! I hope that Sakara Life continues to grow as plant based eating becomes more widespread. Then, hopefully more flexibility is available for those of us outside NYC!
