The time I seem most at a loss or unexcited about what to wear is mid week, early in the morning when I’m getting ready for work. You all seem to be on the same page, because I’ve gotten a lot of requests for more posts featuring workwear friendly clothing. I decided I’d bring back #WorkwearWednesday to the blog in hopes of helping you all with the dilemma of what to wear to work each morning! Specifically, today I’ll be sharing some 90s workwear vibes.
One thing I love about workwear is that I get fabulous CPW (cost per wear) on the pieces. A good, work-friendly black dress gets worn by me until it can’t be worn any more. I know that it’s not as exciting to spend money on something you can only wear to work though, even if it does get so much good use. I want to share items with you all that you can style differently outside of the office to make them date-night or happy hour friendly, too.
I’ll preface the reintroduction of this blog series by letting you all know (or reminding those of you who have been around for awhile) that my work environment is more on the casual side. I work in a school and while I am a professional in that setting, it is more lax. I can wear jeans on Fridays and can get away with black skinny jeans throughout the week. School settings are pretty darn casual, so my workwear will have themes of this many times. I will share how those of you who work in more dressy settings can adjust the more casual looks to fit your work place. Remember, each work environment is different, so what works in one doesn’t always work in another! To each their own and use your own best judgement and what you feel comfortable in. When in doubt, dress for the job you want, not the job you have.*
*This does not mean wear sweatpants to work if your dream job is a stay at home dog mom with limited responsibility. 😉 haha but, that’d be awesome. That just means, dress a little on the nicer or more professional side when in doubt. I’d always rather be overdressed than underdressed.
I wanted to show you guys the look with and without the jacket so you could really get a good look at these pants! I also love this turtleneck because its under $30, is perfect for layering, and comes in a few colors.
These pants have been going in and out of stock quick, so I wanted to round up a few other options for you all! I love the look of a darker plaid in the winter months. The high waist and the buttons on these gave off 90s vibes that I was obsessed with, but I know that isn’t for everyone, so enjoy 15 adorable other options! To shop, simply click on any of the photos below and you’ll taken to that product’s page.

Eeeek, now I want another pair. I love that you can edge them up, give them a retro twist, or keep them classic. So many of those I included above would also look adorable with a slip on sneaker and a t-shirt for an off-duty look. For date night or drinks with the girls, I’d pair mine with a cute lace cami or a black body suit like this one, this one, or this one. For colder nights you could drape a leather moto over your shoulders. You can either keep your pumps on or switch them out for a fun pair of booties!

I have to take a second to harp on this work bag. It’s c/o Dagne Dover and if you haven’t heard of them, you’re missing out. You guysssss. This bag has SO many compartments so its so easy to stay organized and it even has a padded area for your laptop. I LOVE it. I carry it every day to work and also bring it with me as my carry on tote when I travel. It comes in a ton of colors and is such an amazing quality. I seriously love it!!! I also have an adorable cross body type work bag from them in a light blue that I wear more in the Spring. I’m hooked. If you’ve been needing a new work or travel bag, check out some of them here.
I’d love to know what specifically you all want to see from these #WorkwearWednesday posts! These are designed to help all of you, so I want to make sure you get what you want from them. I’m trying to keep each piece I post under $100 or right around it (Like I said, some things like a black dress may be worth spending a little more on), so they are affordable, too.
Hope you are all staying warm! I saw 60s in the forecast for Dallas this weekend and that is what is getting me through these 20 degree days. I can’t wait to take my sweet Maddie girl to the dog park to play! XO
LOVE your hair! The button up fly is also super cute!
