Basics don’t have to be basic or boring. Especially when you pair them with statement jewelry and when an alley full of graffiti walls are your backdrop. This alleyway, better known as Beco de Batman (or Batman alley) is located in the Vila Madalena neighborhood of Sao Paulo, Brasil. I love a good graffiti wall, but a whole alley of them is even better.Beco de Batman is the nickname for the area between Rua Goncalo Afonso and Rua Medeiros de Albuquerque. It was given this nickname because of a Batman that was painted on one of the walls in the 1980s. Shortly after, local art students and artists began filling the walls with other graffiti art. The graffiti is now continually cared for by local community members.Basics are my go-tos. Over the years I have found that clothing items in classic colors (black, white, grey, and neutral/tan) are the ones I hang on to the longest. These are the pieces that I now want to invest more in, because I know my CPW (cost-per-wear) value will be best.I purchased this necklace for myself the first time I visited Rio de Janeiro. I had already checked out at Salinas, a famous Brasilian swimsuit shop, when I spotted it. The colors just reminded me of Rio and I knew it would be the perfect souvenir.
