Are you an all or nothing kind of person or do you see gray areas? For me, it depends on the topic. I don’t like to put things at one extreme or the other unless I have to. However, I know that isn’t the case for everyone. When you decide to put yourself and parts of your life out there online, you have to have a ‘love me, love me not’ mindset and just not care. You can’t please every person with every post and that’s okay. More on that below after I share more of this embroidered denim jacket that makes for a perfect, casual spring or summer outfit with a little edge.
First, let’s talk more about this look. I have been seeing embroidered denim jackets around and really wanted a fun one for summer. I’m always cold, so I keep jackets with me on the reg during the summer because everywhere is freezing to me inside. I loved that this embroidered denim jacket also had a slogan on the back. I love all things graphic, because finding the perfect little slogan makes you feel like something was just made for you. I loved the oversized fit of this jacket, so I paired it with a tight little tank or slip dress. This one is cotton and is so darn comfortable. I wanted the look to be a little on the edgy or cool side, so I paired it with my new favorite bag, my white booties, and round sunnies. In my opinion its a great mix of festival, summer, cool, and easy vibes.
My jacket and dress are both from Topshop at Nordstrom. My jacket is under $150 and my dress is under $20! Yup. What a steal. It comes in three colors, too. The rest of my look is also available at Nordstrom. I love looking through Topshop on their site because everything is a really great price point. Even though this jacket is a little over $100, for a jacket, it’s still a great price when you think of the CPW (Cost Per Wear). I ordered this look before a weekend when I wanted something new and fun to wear and naturally I used Nordstrom’s online ordering and picked it up curb side in less than ten minutes after work one day. The easiest. I’ve been living in this dress since. It’s perfect to layer over, dress up or down, or even lounge around the house in. Best $20 I’ve spent in awhile!
I bought a 2 in this jacket, because its a little oversized. I got a 6 in the dress because I didn’t want it to be too tight. I could’ve sized down to a 4, so I recommend basing your order on how you want it to fit. I usually wear anywhere from a 2-6 in Topshop. Sometimes I order two sizes and pick which one fits best to keep and then return the other.
And now for a little more on the message behind this jacket, at least what made me want to buy it for the saying it has and what it inspired for me. At the RewardStyle Conference a few weeks ago, Aimee Song from Song of Style, who is an OG mega blogger, said she finally stopped trying to please everyone. She would be so excited to post a photo and it may not do as well as she hoped, so she realized that even if only 10% of the people following her liked a photo or were inspired by it, then that’s still a lot of people she was reaching or connecting with. If they didn’t like this one, they may like the next one, or the one after that. This jacket reminded me of those words of wisdom from her, because they are so true. No matter what field you find yourself working in or what social or life situation you are in, you can’t please them all or do everything all at once. If you embrace a ‘love me, love me not’ mindset where you’re just okay knowing you can’t please everyone all the time, you’ll be much more at peace with yourself rather than trying to constantly make everyone happy. This is something it took me quite awhile to realize and I must say, really implementing that mindset, and reminding yourself of it when you fall down the rabbit hole, is so helpful to just let you live your life.

This has been such a crazy week already! Your girl here is EXHAUSTED. The last few weeks of school are always so crazy. I legit had to eat my lunch walking down the hallway and tomorrow I’m sure it will be the same. I always joke that we really have to earn our time off! Outside of seeing some friends in town for a little bit this weekend, and celebrating Mother’s Day, we don’t really have a lot of plans, which I love. I need some major sleep catch up time and to get ahead on my to do list for next week. I hope you area all having a wonderful week so far and are looking forward to the weekend!
