The word ‘extra’ has been thrown around a lot here and there. I must admit, I’m into it. It perfectly describes so much and is a fun state of mind to embrace. I like applying extra to my wardrobe at times when I’m wearing something that may be a little too much or is kind of over the top. This outfit is just that. So much so, that one extra just wouldn’t do, so this look is extra, extra. Today, I’m talking about why sometimes you just need to go for it and have an over the top moment with fashion and to not take yourself too seriously. Plus I’m sharing lots of cute clothing options in addition to this look for you achieve a bold look yourself.

EXTRA, EXTRA

First, let’s talk this look. I love a good blazer dress. This one is technically a romper, which makes it even better in my opinion. I loved the bold, green color. I seriously went from a neutral-only girl to a lover of a bold color from time to time and it’s been a fun and refreshing change. Don’t get me wrong, neutrals are still my go to and my favorites because of their ease and CPW (cost per wear), but adding in color has made me feel refreshed and inspired. A rich, emerald green is one of my favorite colors to play around with. It brings out my eyes and just feels powerful to me. This romper is by River Island, who always makes the most fun, playful pieces. Plus, they are always great price points.

One of my favorite combos is a rich green paired with leopard. The combo probably reminds me of the Cartier leopard ring that I’ve always loved and have seen on celebs like Rachel Zoe and Erika Jayne, but honestly I’ve loved the combo for as long as I can remember. Plus, I don’t think a 25k ring just for fun is in my future, so I’ll settle for wearing the combo in a much more affordable way. I got this leopard headband before I went to Miami and threw it in my bag when I went to shoot this look. I pulled it out and asked my photographer “too much?” We both agreed that it was just the right amount of extra or boujee and went for it.

I was originally going to let my shoes be the star accessory, but I’m glad I added a twist on a classic black shoe with this gorgeous lace up + tassel pair and that I had this adorable clutch with a tassel on it to go with it. I think this would make for such a fun date night look or something to wear for a fun party or night out. These shoes are surprisingly comfortable, too! Definitely my new favorite pair. They look amazing paired with jeans and a t-shirt, too or with a LBD.

HAVE A LITTLE FUN

I was a little nervous at first to wear this headband with an already bold look, because I wondered if the headband styled this way made me look stupid. I always go back and forth with head and hair accessories. I was starting to overthink it when I realized hey, it’s not THAT big of a deal. It’s a headband. Have fun with the look and don’t take yourself, or fashion, too seriously. One look doesn’t define your style, just like one day doesn’t define your life. If you look back and don’t love a look, that’s fine. It doesn’t matter if it’s a week from now, a year from now, or ten years from now. If you like it that day, in that moment, just go for it.

I dress for my mood, what I’m doing, for the season, and where I am. If I’m feeling bold or like having fun, I’m going to dress like it. If I’m feeling classic, I’ll opt for neutrals. It’s fun to play around with your clothes whether you’re putting a few different pieces you already own together differently or throwing in something new. It’s great to have your go to combos or favorite styles, but it’s also so empowering to take risks and just rock something out of the ordinary.
