First things first, let’s talk about this look. I wanted to share this look with this post, because this outfit was one of my favorites from NYFW. This dress is from Free People, which I’m sure you all have noticed is one of my all time favorite brands. This is such a me (as in you do you) dress, but I pushed the limits with how I styled it with some fun accessories. Plus, walking on the cobblestone streets in Soho with stiletto heels is definitely pushing the limits! haha  more on that below. I’m wearing a size 0 in this dress & it comes in four colors.

I can always find looks at Free People that are both classic & every day, but also feel so “me.” Their pieces are on trend, but are pieces you can style again & again to recreate different looks. I can’t wait to share more ways to style this dress through the Fall! I found so many cute LBDs on Free People that I wanted to round up some of my favorites for you all to shop below.

FIVE NEW YORK FASHION WEEK TAKEAWAYS

Below are my five NYFW takeaways. I feel like I learn something new at every major event I go to & with every trip. I definitely left NYC feeling inspired, motivated, & ready to make some positive changes as needed.

DO YOU

I’m not sure I can count how many times I said this over my time at NYFW. Everyone is so different & that is our strength. You have to do what works for you. Do what makes you happy. We may not ‘get’ something about someone else, a brand, an event, etc. but we just have to focus on us & not worry about everything & everyone else.

STAY TRUE

Stay true to YOU. People take notice if you’re trying to be like everyone else. I can’t tell you how many times I heard this weekend that it was refreshing that I was different in one aspect or another. It’s so obvious that people aren’t happy & when they are trying to be something they are not. If you stay true to who you are, that will pay off & you will be much happier.

PUSH THE LIMITS

Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone & push the limits. This may be going to an event where you don’t know anyone, wearing something you’ve never worn, or just trying a new food. Don’t be afraid to try new things, you may find something new that works great for you or that you love! Pushing the limits may mean trying something new & failing, but at least you’re trying! It’s all a part of the process of finding out who YOU are & what works for you.

PRIORTIZE

You can’t do it all. You have to pick what is most important to you & focus on that. I learned at my first fashion week that trying to go to everything wouldn’t work. This year, I focused on having meetings or attending events that will actually help my business, benefit my audience, & help me grow personally & professionally. At times, that may be turning something down for some down time or quality time with friends or family.

REEVALUATE

Don’t be afraid to step back & reevaluate, This may mean seeking help or opinions from others to realize where you have room to grow. This may mean reprioritizing & figuring out what is really important. This may mean switching up how you do things. We can’t get too comfortable with the way we’ve always done things. Change is essential for growth!

I hope these 5 takeaways from NYFW are helpful & are something that you can apply to your daily life no matter what time period in your life you are in or what your career is. I had such a wonderful time at fashion week this year. i was able to prioritize what is important to me & not worry about doing what I think I should be doing.  I’ll be sharing all of my outfits from the trip & more of a recap, soon. In the mean time, you can check out my New York City Guide for all of my travel & food recs. I’ll be updating that with some new things from this past trip, too! XO
