Guide to the Texas State Fair

Guide to the Texas State Fair via A Lo Profile

The Texas State Fair is unlike any other. Of course, its bigger than most, as you may expect, but its also a little different. I often hear people saying they skip out on fairs in their towns or states. In Texas, you go. It’s a tradition each Fall to go at least once, if not several times. Whether you’re making it a family affair, a date night, or going with friends– you really can’t go wrong. This year, I wanted to go and have some fun at our state fair and shoot a few fun looks there. I wouldn’t typically be this dressed up at the fair, but that’s what made these photos so fun! I wanted to share my guide to the Texas State Fair with you all today, so that you can save it and have it for next year. Unfortunately, the fair is over, but the memories (and perhaps the damage done to our diets) will live on. Calories don’t count at the fair, so my mindset is always to eat my little heart out.

First up, lets talk outfits. If you’re just here for the food, scroll on down because I’m breaking down some of what I’ve tried over the past few years based on what you must try, what you should skip, some classics you can’t miss, and what I just couldn’t squeeze in this year so it’s on my list for next year.

This jumpsuit was added to my car the second I saw it. I’m so obsessed! The overalls meets jumpsuits with the flared legs, low back, and pinstripes is just too perfect. I want any excuse to wear this bad boy. I paired it with my white booties and sunnies for a retro vibe, then added a belt to accentuate my waist, and this fun metallic clutch.

Next up, this crowd pleaser top. I loved the casual vibe of this t-shirt paired with a denim jacket contrasted by this velvet ruffle skirt and metallic booties. I topped off the look with my favorite designer sunnies and new bag for a bit of a glam twist.

Finally, this sequin bomber. I love fun bomber jackets like this! I wanted to contrast it with my ripped boyfriend jeans (with a little extra room for fried food) and these sock booties, which are so comfortable for walking around. If you haven’t gotten a pair this year, you’ll get so much good use out of them!

Anddd now, lets talk more about the fair. I’m skipping out on rides, because I love any and all of them, and just going straight to the really important stuff (well, after the clothes, wait no maybe more… ahh I’m torn): the food.

Until next year, Texas State Fair. You were glorious as always! Thanks for the extra few thousand calories, for a great excuse to spend $100+ on silly games and fried food, and for a super fun day. If I missed any of your favorite foods, please let me know! Also, if you tried any of those on my list for next year and think they are worth skipping, let me know so I can save room for better things! It’s all about strategy, y’all.
