It’s Wednesday, which means another work wear look for you all! I love a good pair of tailored trousers paired with a classic pump. It’s chic, classic, and professional. I don’t like my work outfits to be too boring, because I’m often running from work to an event or a meeting with little to no time in between. I think a fun pair of pants like these allow you to trade out the sweater for a lace cami and head straight to cocktail hour. Today, I’m talking about metallic in the workplace.
Hopefully you caught my post last week all about metallic activewear. If not, read it here. Metallics have been having a major moment in all aspects of style and they aren’t going any where any time soon. It can sometimes be tricky to integrate trends into the workplace. I wanted to share my tips for wearing the metallic trend at the workplace and share a few of my favorite options for you all!
The number one rule to wearing metallics, or really any trend item, in the work place, is to let it be the star. Try to keep the rest of your look simple and in basic colors such as black, gray, white, or navy. You don’t want to pair a metallic pant with a bright red blouse at work. Let the metallic piece the star of your look. I’m trying to include budget-friendly items in my work wear posts, because I know shopping on a budget is so important. Finding pieces you can repurpose to wear outside the work place is key. When choosing what to splurge on, I choose bags or something I can wear a ton of times!
First up, let’s talk pants since that is what I am wearing here. Make sure your pants aren’t too tight. Also try to gravitate to a more classic silhouette when wearing a trendy printed or colored pant.

Next, let’s go with accessories, because this is usually the easiest way to add in a little something fun to a look. Whether you choose a metallic work bag, a fun belt, or even a piece of jewelry, adding a metallic accessory into your look can give it a little touch of sparkle without feeling like you’re pushing the limits.

Who doesn’t love to look down during a rough work day and see a pretty pair of shoes? I swear, they brighten some of my days. Adding a metallic shoe to an otherwise monochrome look is a great way to add a fun touch!

Rocking a top with a subtle sheen to it is the key. You don’t want to show up to work in a full sequin top. You could also choose a piece with a little bit of embellishment. Whether you’re wearing a sweater with a little bit of metallic detail or a shimmery top with a blazer over it, you can easily pair a metallic top with a classic black pant or skirt for the workplace.

Depending on where you work and what the vibe or dress code is, you may be able to get away with some other metallic pieces at the office. My work is on the casual side, so I am lucky that I get to wear some more relaxed or modern items. I love a good metallic blazer, so finding one I can pair with black skinny jeans, heels, and a classic cami is a fun work outfit for me. I could also wear a pair of metallic shoes to add a little bit of subtle trend to my look. Even if you can’t wear any of the items below for work, consider them for post-work fun, as they’d be an easy thing to throw on in the car en route to drinks or dinner.

Hopefully this helps you better know how to wear metallics in the workplace! What trend do you want to see styled for work next?
Is it crazy that I think my shorter hair makes all my work outfits a little more chic and professional? I’m loving it! This has already been kind of a crazy work week, but it is making it go by fast, so that’s always good. I shot several new looks after work for you all yesterday, then was up decently late working. This is the last week of my Whole 30 and I am so excited to be in the final days. I am feeling really good and love that it has gotten easier every time I’ve done one. Some of you who started yours on January 1st are already finished, which is amazing! Congrats to you. If you set any New Years goals, hopefully you are already crossing them off your list or are hitting milestones for bigger goals! XO
