Dallas blogger A Lo Profile sharing a review of Sakara Life

Have you heard of Sakara Life? Whether you have or haven’t, I’m sharing my Sakara Life review with all of you today and answering some FAQs I received about it. If you follow along with me on Instagram, then you may recall seeing on my stories last week that I was trying this meal service for the week. I first heard of this a few years ago and have only seen it’s popularity grow. I finally decided to try it this week and am breaking down everything about it for you all today! Plus, I’m sharing a Sakara Life discount code for you all if you want to try it for yourself.

Sakara Life Meal Delivery

Sakara Life is a plant-based, organic meal delivery service that is founded on the idea that food is supposed to be nourishment and medicine, not the other way around. Sakara isn’t a diet, it’s a lifestyle. It’s helping you learn to count nutrients and not calories, carbs, macros, or anything else. Instead of depriving yourself, you’re giving your body what it needs and can process easiest. It’s based on the following nine principles: don’t count calories, plant protein, eat your water, greens, good eats, eat the rainbow, nutrient dense, sulfur-rich veggies, and body intelligence. Their website explains more of each of these in depth. All of the meals are plant based, organic, gluten free, dairy free, non gmo, and free of refined sugars.

Personally, I have been trying to eat more plants for awhile now. When at home, I try to avoid gluten and dairy (cheese is my weakness though) and am always on the hunt for more go to recipes or meal ideas that are plant based, full of nutrient rich foods, and are dairy and gluten free. I had just gotten back from a long weekend in Miami and had a crazy, busy work week going on, so I knew I wouldn’t have a ton of time to cook, but wanted to eat really healthy to feel good again after my trip.

Other people do this as a week long detox here and there, to get ready for a trip/wedding/post-baby or to turn their lifestyle around, and others just incorporate it into their every day life whether through their meal delivery program or through products from their Clean Boutique.

You choose which meals you want to receive- breakfast, lunch, dinner– and whether you want to do three or five days of meals. What you can do depends on where you live. The meals arrive at your door 48 hours after they receive the ingredients, so you know everything is fresh. Your meals arrive in eco-friendly coolers or bags, depending on your location, with cooling packs. In addition to clean, ready-to-eat meals, you get daily detox waters and teas.

Your location determines when your meals arrive. They deliver to the 48 continental states and if you’re outside of NYC, you’ll likely receive your meals on Tuesday. Mine arrived around lunch on Tuesday and I had meals for that night through Friday at lunch.

Each week there is a different menu and you can make some customizations to what you receive up to a certain point before the meals are prepped. All meals come in recyclable, convenient containers. The meals don’t have to be heated, but some are even better when they are and they are marked with a little flame symbol on them if they recommend heating them. You do have to take them out of the packages and put them in microwave safe containers to heat them though. I loved that you could eat them cold or hot so depending on what my day was like, I could eat the meal anywhere.

The price depends upon your location, how many meals a day you do, and if you do three or five days, but for three meals a day it ranges from about $200 to $400ish. Go to their site and enter in your info to find out exactly what it would cost you and what is available based on your location. You can click here for a 15% off discount to automatically be applied when you check out if you are a new customer.

The price definitely is higher than what I’d spend on groceries for a week for just myself, but the convenience of having all of my meals ready for the week was amazing. I think it’s comparable to picking up meals on the go for one for the week though. If you added up all that you’d spend on three meals out a week plus the other product you’re getting, this would be close in terms of value. You’re definitely getting healthier meals though!

Really, all of the meals were all delicious. I loved everything as a whole! There may have been one or two things in one of the meals that weren’t my favorite, but I did try new veggies or plants I hadn’t before! I found new things that I didn’t know were delicious and I just ate around the few things that weren’t my fav. I loved all of the sauces and got so many great ideas for future meals I can recreate at home, too which I love.

For me, this is something that I’ll keep in mind for times when I need to get back on track or when I have a super busy week and know that I won’t have a lot of time to cook healthy meals for myself. It’s definitely not something I would want to splurge on all weeks of the month, though. I think certain times, like prepping for a vacation or wedding or after having a baby, may be good times to justify doing it more long term though.

As promised, I have a Sakara Life coupon code for you all to use to get 15% off of your first time trying this! It is: REF_laurenmf15. You can also click through this link and it will automatically apply the discount code for you at checkout!

Yes! I actually was surprised at how big the portions were and how full I was. I didn’t even finish some of the meals because I was so satisfied and full. I really didn’t feel the need to snack or anything between the meals. I made tea as they suggested between the meals, but really was pleasantly surprised at how full I was. The meals are designed to give you over 200% of your daily fiber and 100% of essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

As Sakara Life continues to expand, I hope to have more flexibility with meal ordering in my area. I would love to be able to go on and select just lunches for the week or a few meals here and there based on some of my favorite dishes and what was available that next week. I would kill for the flexibility of the meals like some stores that you can walk into and stock up on what you want! A store front in my area would be a game changer. A girl can dream! I hope that Sakara Life continues to grow as plant based eating becomes more widespread and that more flexibility is available for those of us outside NYC!
