Twist on the Classics

More often than not I really dislike being asked to describe my style in a few words. Idk?! Evolving. Classic with an edge. Neutral. Accessible. Everyday. Extra. It really depends on my mood, what I’m doing, the weather, where I am, who I am with, etc. It’s hard for me to define myself in a few words, too. I like variety and like to dress based on what I’m feeling. One style that seems to be consistent in my wardrobe is putting a little twist on the classics. I like pieces that are timeless and that you can wear again and again. However, I also love when small details give classic pieces a bit of an update. This outfit is the perfect example of that.

I added this shirt to my cart the second I saw it. I don’t feel like I can ever have enough good white tops. After jeans, they have to be my favorite clothing item! This one is by a favorite brand of mine. While they are a little bit splurge worthy, the quality is amazing and the pieces they make are ones that you’ll have and wear for years to come. I get the best use of of their clothing! This white button down blouse has white and gray pearl and beaded embellishments on the shoulders that I just love. It adds such a subtle, but fun detail to this top to put a twist or edge on this otherwise classic piece. I’m rounding up a few other favorite white button downs for you all to shop below.

The same applies to these black skinny jeans. The raw hem is a little more uneven and dramatic than some other pairs I own. I like it because it just screams to be paired with a heel or a fun bootie. I wore a classic black pump here, but I have a fun metallic pair that would also look fun or I think even a bright colored pair would look great. A pair of booties in any color would also look great. Switching up your shoes with a classic pairing like this is a fun way to keep it feeling fresh. I can’t count the number of times I’ve worn a white button down with black skinny jeans, but I keep styling the look different ways or adding in pieces with a fun twist like these so I don’t get bored with the look. Switching out your accessories is another fun way to keep the look feeling new and different.

Are you all ready for Valentine’s Day tomorrow? I’m excited for a mid-week date night! I have a shoot after work today and then will be finishing up some blog work and hopefully getting to sleep early. This is one of the challenging times of the year to shoot outfits outside, because we still get some freezing cold days, but I’m trying to shoot some Spring looks. Oh, the joys of always being ‘ahead’ of the game! haha If you’re ready for the warmer weather, you can shop some of my resort and spring favs here. I’m done shopping for winter and am currently wishing away the cold weather! I always seem to be ‘over it’ by this time of year.
