A good white silk button down has to be one of the best investments. The styling options are endless. I love white button downs because you can wear them year round and in seriously any setting. A good white button down is the best option in my opinion for a job interview or every day in the work place. It can be dressed down with denim shorts and booties (as I did here) or up for date night. I’ve even seen a white classic button down at black tie events with an amazing skirt. Plus, the options for jewelry are endless, too.
The way I styled it here is for a just-left-the-office and meeting-friends-for-drinks outfit. I started by adding a statement necklace, as that is the perfect way to step up an outfit. I think jewelry in the workplace should often be kept minimal (depending on your job, mine is pretty laid back in a school setting so jewelry to your heart’s content is fine). I put on my fav statement choker, but I think this one or this one would also look great. The key to taking this from the office to out is the little black lace bralette underneath This allowed me to loosen a button or two, but not be over-exposed. If your top is super sheer, I would recommended a nude bra for the work day then changing it out for this one later. A black bra showing under a white blouse is not standard work place appropriate.
This classic black pump is great for work if you need or like wearing heels, but if not a little flat (like these for everyday or these for a more relaxed look) would be great for during the day. The final touch is trading your tote bag out for a little clutch. I chose this burgundy color so my outfit wasn’t all black and white. Touch up your lipstick and you are good to go from the office to drinks in just a few minutes.
