After our very low-key gender reveal I spent the next day designing our nursery. Truth be told, I had most of it designed in my head for either a boy or a girl. I began ordering pieces immediately to avoid too many things being backordered. I didn’t want to be waiting on furniture while also waiting for baby to arrive. It feels good to have the space is pretty much finished as we wait for baby boy to arrive! Today I am so excited to be sharing our nursery reveal.
Nursery Reveal
I shared our nursery design with you all when I finished it. Not too much changed along the way, but obviously a space looks so different as it all comes together in real life. I’m sharing pictures of our nursery reveal below as well as sources for everything in the room. I had so much fun designing this space & watching it all come together. I know that babies don’t need much in a nursery or even use it at first. However, it feels so good to have a space ready for him!
I love these acrylic shelves on the wall to display books & pictures. We got all of the photo prints from Minted & also got them framed there! They have so many cute nursery options that don’t feel too cheesy to me. I’m linking the shelves, art prints, & book seen here below.
Cribs have always made me think of jail when you see a baby looking at you through them. Random, but true. When I found this crib with the clear acrylic bars I loved it! It felt modern & chic. It also comes in white! It’s a great purchase because you can turn it into a toddler bed & a daybed down the road to ensure you use it for years to come.
Inside the crib we have the softest sheet that I bought a few of because I loved it & the color so much. We went with the Newton crib mattress because it’s 100% washable & breathable, which gives us such peace of mind. Although we’ll take the pillows, stuffed animals, & blanket off when he starts sleeping in here, they make it feel much more put together for now. The two animals are my most favorite thing we’ve gotten for baby! They are custom made to look like our dogs, Maddie & Olive. I hope that he has them forever! They are from a custom Etsy listing. She pauses orders when she gets too many so she can stay caught up, so check back if the listing isn’t currently available for purchase. You can use code: ALOPROFILE when you checkout for a discount.
This room used to have a fan in it, but like all the other ones in our house we took it down to opt for something a little more aesthetically pleasing. This light fixture is great because it can be a pendant or a longer chandelier.
The wallpaper behind the crib is a subtle, moody cloud print that I had in mind for awhile when thinking of a nursery. I love the bit of texture & dimension it adds. It comes in a few different color or shade options. I originally saw this Batman print in Kourtney Kardashian’s home & loved it. I saved it & thought it would be so cute for a little boy’s nursery! I found the print on eBay & got it custom framed at a local framer here in Dallas.
The curtains are such a nice, lux fabric & the perfect neutral. They are blackout curtains to help block any extra light that may come in from the blackout shades. I have them tied back for now with beautiful marble curtain tie backs. This room really is super dark most of the day without any lights on, so I love getting any natural light in that I can by having the curtains back while I can.
We spent one day sitting in probably 15+ different nursery chairs to decide on this one from Babyletto. This one was by far the most comfortable! It fully reclines, which Charles is so excited about. He said it’s his only chance to ever have a recliner & he may be right. haha The fabric is great because it is liquid & stain resistant. The chair also swivels & has a place to charge your phone.
I wanted a little table for next to the chair to be able to keep water on when we’re in here or to put a nightlight or something on down the road. I moved the lamp in from our living room & it provides just enough light in here during the day without having to turn on the brighter overhead light fixture.
I absolutely could not love this dresser more. He’ll be keeping it until he goes off to college to justify the splurge. In all seriousness, I knew this was going to be a piece we can use in so many different ways or spaces over the years. I looked into the smaller version, but I just loved this one so much. We have SO much extra storage in it between this & the Elfa closet systems we got put in the closet, which is great. It’s a little crowded with the crib right now & the glider, but the glider is temporary in the room.
We kept the styling simple with a Keekaroo changer (I hear these are the easiest to clean). We wanted a mirror somewhere in the room to make it feel a little bigger so above the dresser worked perfect & then we added sconces on either side for a little extra soft light. I love how they tie in the brass accents throughout the room. We added his mobile above the changing pad to keep him entertained during changes.
This cute bookshelf is the first thing we ordered for the nursery. I loved the rounded edges of it! I do wish it was a little taller, but understand that they made it more ‘kid size’ so it makes sense. We have it styled simply for now. The storage bins on the bottom are empty for toy or stuffed animal storage as he gets older. I may end up hanging the city print above the bookshelf, but for now it works just leaning!
We layered a sheepskin rug on top of the area rug so it’s extra cozy underneath the crib. I definitely wanted some sort of sheep in the nursery & this one from RH was too chic to pass up. It also comes in grey & they have a few other animal options. My grandfather had sheep on his ranch that I spent so much time on growing up & I had a big sheep he had given me in my room growing up for years. So, I loved the idea of incorporating a sheep into our son’s nursery. The dogs were unsure of him at first, which was so funny. I wanted some sort of plant in this corner for height, but I’m not sure this fiddle will survive, as this is the darkest room in our home. Good for a sleeping baby, not so good for a light loving plant. We moved it with it’s planter from our family room. I’ve since added his laundry hamper over in this corner, too.
I hope you all loved seeing our nursery reveal! I had so much fun designing this space & absolutely love how it turned out. Now, we just need baby boy to be here & it will be complete.
