Our Baby Shower

Two weekends ago we had friends & family over to our house to celebrate Baby Roscopf. We wanted our baby shower at our home because after everything that went on the last year, we haven’t gotten to host a lot of our friends & family since we’ve updated our home. We also thought it would be much easier to organize any gifts straight into the nursery afterwards! Today, I’m recapping our baby shower.

Our Baby Shower

If you were following along for our wedding, you may have picked up on the fact that we aren’t the most traditional when it comes to celebrations. I believe in doing what you want, not what you feel like you should do. For our baby shower, this meant I did not want to serve our friends mocktails just because I can’t drink. I also did not want to open gifts from our baby registry in front of everyone or play any cheesy games. To each their own, but I just wanted everyone to have fun & hang out! It’s no secret that I love neutrals, so I wanted something chic & not over the top with baby things!

To me, if you’re shopping for someone for their wedding or baby via their registry, you’re getting them items they want & have picked out. To watch someone open something like a snot sucker or diaper rash cream just isn’t exciting to me. Plus, if things are given ‘off registry’ & you don’t actually like them, it’s hard to hide it when everyone is staring at you. I don’t like all eyes on me & people looking for reactions or something, so I like to skip the opening of gifts! Charles & I opened them the next day together & were able to put them all away as we did. Then, we can write a well thought out thank you note to each person afterwards instead of yelling ‘thank you’ across a party.

We used Lushra for the balloon arches. They did a great job of keeping everything neutral like I wanted & added in the perfect shade of ‘denim blue’ since we’re having a boy. I love denim & consider it a neutral in my wardrobe, so it worked perfectly! They did an arch on our front door to help everyone know where the party was, an arch on our gate for anyone entering or exiting the backyard that way, a large arch on the wine tap trailer, & another one on the marquee letters. They also had the cutest custom large balloon that said ‘Baby Roscopf’ on it. If you are Dallas based, Lushra can blow up all the balloons for you ahead of time & bring them to your event to install on the day of. If you aren’t local, or if you just want a DIY option, they sell their balloon kits online that you can easily do at home. They have videos with how to do it but really all you need is a balloon air pump & a little time! I’ve done the DIY arches for parties before & they are always so cute. You can use code: ALOPROFILE on their site for a discount on their DIY kits or for your next event!

The marquee letters were brought & set up by Alpha Lit. They have locations all over & can spell out just about anything for any event! I’ve seen them do proposals, cooperate parties, & everything in between. I’ve used them in other cities for parties as well & always have a great experience. I think they are such a great photo back drop for any event! They were perfect to add something cute in front of our fence.

The wine trailer is Bubble Tap. I’ve had this at other events & always thought it was the cutest thing. Not only is it adorable decor, but it’s functional, too. You can get wine, champagne, or mixed drinks to come out through the taps. You can also sit inside the little trailer for some cute photo opps. The owner, Dawn, is so amazing & does such a great job coordinating & setting everything up to ensure your event goes smoothly! She even offered some sort of mocktail, but since myself & another pregnant friend were the only ones not drinking, I said to just go for the bubbles!

Our hosts got breakfast Tacos catered from Rusty Taco. They set everything up inside & everyone was able to make their own tacos with what they wanted on them. This was great to accommodate different dietary preferences. They also got a cake from my favorite Dallas bakery, Society Bakery. It was funfetti, which is one of my favorites!

Thank you so much to all of our vendors & our hostesses for making our baby shower such a special & fun day. You can see a fun little video I put together of the shower here on Instagram. We feel lucky to know that Baby Roscopf is already so loved & celebrated. Now, the count down until his arrival is on.
