Statement Coat

If you were following along with me last year, then you may remember this coat. I LOVED it then, I love it now. Not only is it so warm, but I love this shade of blue. Statement coats add so much fun to darker outfits throughout the winter. Plus, being that they are coats,  I feel like you can wear them as much as you want without worrying about being a repeat offender. I think learning that you’re supposed to repeat your clothing and buy pieces that are investments comes with age, or at least it did for me. I recall the days when once I wore something once or twice, that was it. Oh the things we wish we knew when we were younger!

I definitely think a wardrobe needs classic color coats- black, camel, winter white, grey- but its’ fun mixing up your wardrobe with some color in the winter. I am absolutely guilty of gravitating towards darker colors when the temps drop, but as I mentioned last week in this post, you shouldn’t be afraid of color in your winter wardrobe. That doesn’t just apply to sweaters, scarves, or booties, but also with coats.

I wore this coat with all black (again) because I really think it makes it stand out. This black lace top was under $30 to start and is currently on sale. Plus, it comes in a blush color that is so cute, too. I threw on a solid black tank under it to wear it to work. I also love wearing this coat with just a white t-shirt, jeans, and grey OTK boots. I got so much good use out of this coat last year that I am on the lookout for a new statement one (or two) this winter season.
