NYC Outfit Recap

Sharing my NYC outfit recap and making it easy to shop all my New York outfits in one place so you know what to wear in NYC the next time you visit.

New York is hands down one of my favorite cities for so many reasons. For the purpose of today’s post, I’ll focus on the inspiration it gives me for fashion. I love that you can push the limits in NYC. You can pretty much wear whatever you want wherever you’re going. Everyone is doing their own thing and isn’t focused much on what you’re wearing. There is every kind of person in the city and you can dress for whoever you feel like being that day. Today, I’m sharing my NYC outfit recap from my most recent trip and helping to give you some inspiration of what to wear in NYC. Plus, it makes shopping all my outfits from this trip easy because they are all in one place.

Life really does feel like it starts over again when it gets crisp in the fall. Fall hits NYC much faster than it does down here in Texas, so I was eager to wear some cute new fall clothing I had gotten in without sweating. We got lucky with amazing weather, which made it perfect for walking around! I am working on my comprehensive NYC city guide for you all, but in the mean time you can ready what I did on past trips here and here.

Is this not the perfect sweatshirt for leaving town? The front says ‘I’m on Vacation’ and the back says ‘Leave Me Alone.’ There is just something about turning on your OOO auto reply on your e-mail and knowing you get to jet off and escape for a long weekend. This brand has the softest sweats! They always have the cutest sayings on them and are perfect for travel or lounging around. These cute high top style sneakers are so comfortable for all the walking you do around the airport. I love the detail on them!

This is the comfiest sweater dress! I threw it on for running around town. You’ll see later in this post that it’s great to layer with, too. I love it with booties, OTK boots, and sneakers. You can also style it with leggings if it’s too short for you to wear on it’s own. I have a long torso and it was the perfect mini length on me. It’s such a versatile piece and comes in several colors! These booties have a cute, subtle western style to them and they are surprisingly comfortable.

It’s fun to get dressed up sometimes! We went to the ballet and I wore this gorgeous dress for the occasion. I love that you could dress it down, too. The color is perfect for Fall and it’s a really easy, comfortable maxi. I love that it hits right at my ankles because its a perfect excuse for some fun shoes. I wore these because they are comfortable for walking around NYC, but next time I wear it I’m definitely going with a statement shoe.

I love a cute little matching PJ set. This one is perfect for anyone who gets hot when they sleep. It has ‘Sweet Dreams’ embroidered in red on the pocket, which I think is such an adorable detail. I included a few other sets that I like, too. I think PJ sets like this make adorable gifts. My glasses are blue light blocking glasses, which are great for anyone who spends a lot of time on devices like me!

Is a trip to NYC complete without stopping at a street vendor? I think not. I wore this little black slip dress (I have it in white and actually wore it as my getaway dress for our wedding) with a sweater and all the fun fall accessories layered over it. This is a piece that you will wear countless times because there are so many ways to style it. You really can wear it year round. The scarf I am wearing is from a line that one of my favorite bloggers just came out with and is so darn cozy! I love how chunky it is. I love wearing hats during the cooler months, too. Such a fun way to add a little something extra to your look.

You all probably know by know that I love a good bodysuit. I saw this one and had to snag it! I loved the sparkle and the color of it. I paired it with a classic black duster, jeans, and black heeled booties. I played up the metallic with this fun silver clutch. I swear this is the best affordable clutch ever! I have it it in so many colors and just keep going back for more.

I die for a good metallic moment and this skirt is just one of the best ones I’ve seen. It looks like liquid silver to me and I love how many different ways there are to style it. I wore it with a tshirt and sneakers running around a bit, too. It’s a great statement piece with more casual sweaters or you can of course dress it up. I paired it with this classic white button down. This top is the most amazing quality! It comes in a few colors and is a great basic to invest in.

Few things feel more ‘Fall’ than plaid. You can shop all of my favorite plaid for fall here. I love red plaid this time of year! This coat was a must the second I saw it. I wore it walking around Central Park. I loved the contrast of the red against the beautiful green of the park. I kept all my accessories black to let the jacket be the focus of the look. Adding a fun little hat like this one makes any look feel more put together or cool in my opinion.

Dress of my dreams! Is this not perfect for a night out in NYC? My ideal night out ends with my favorite pizza of all time. I wanted the look to have a little edge so I wore it with booties over heels. I added a belt to give my waist a little definition and a red lip for a little color. I can’t wait to find any excuse to wear this dress again!

This is the softest most comfortable skirt! I love the ruffle detail on it and you can style it so many different ways. It’s amazing with sneakers for a casual look and I actually love it dressed up, too. I paired it with these fun leopard booties for walking around the city. They are actually crazy comfortable! I’m still obsessed with all things leopard. You can shop some of my favorite leopard picks here.

I was definitely channeling my inner Blair Waldorf with this headband. I love that it softened up this look and added a little bit of color and pattern to the look. I had to style this duster again on this trip. It’s just too good! I’ll be wearing it a ton in the months to come. I feel like it’s such a good investment piece because I will wear it countless times! Just like OTK boots. This pair still make me happy every time I put them on. I love this fun suede skirt for fall. I paired a bodysuit underneath it that you have to get another look at. The back of it is super low and its just such a good, versatile piece.

I love sleeping in rompers! They are so easy and cute for lounging around in. I wore my favorite lace bralette underneath this one. It’s been selling fast, so I linked a few similar ones above, too.

Another comfy travel look for the journey home. These jeans are my latest purchase and I love them. They have the perfect amount of stretch to keep them comfy, but they still maintain their shape. I love this cardigan top. It looks so cute with skirts, too! It’s super soft and comes in three colors. My luggage comes in three colors, too! I love that it’s a little different because it’s fun and stands out at baggage claim. I topped off the look with leopard sneakers, because why not!? They’re comfortable and cute.

I like adding all of my every day jewelry that I rotate through and some go to makeup products together for you all to shop, too. I like having a few go to pieces when traveling because it’s easier to keep up with. Plus, I’ve been more into layered, dainty jewelry lately so it work out great!
