SXSW 2019 Outfit Recap

I spent several days of my spring break down in Austin for South By Southwest or SXSW. This is my third year in a row going and it is always such a fun experience. If you’re unfamiliar, SXSW is a little over a week long festival in Austin, Texas where fashion, music, start-ups, tech, and film all come together.

SXSW 2019 OUTFIT RECAP

Austin is a pretty laid back vibe, so I always keep that in mind when planning my outfits and packing for SXSW. I got asked a lot this year about what to wear, so I thought I’d share my SXSW 2019 outfit recap so you can shop everything I wore in one place and bookmark it for outfit inspo for future years! It’s also great outfit inspo for any trip to Austin.

I’ve been to ATX more times than I can count and I am always so excited about spending time in one of my favorite cities. There are a ton of events and networking opportunities that go on during SXSW. For a little glimpse into some of the events, be sure to check out my post on SXSW events. You can also see more from my experiences in the years past in this post and this post.

I wore this casual look on our first morning when we went searching for tacos and coffee. This t-shirt has already sold out several times and is by one of my favorite designers! It’s a perfect graphic t-shirt. This sweater skirt comes in over ten colors and is so cute dressed up or down. It had been raining so I used that as a great excuse to throw my hair up in my current favorite scrunchie. Since we were walking around, I paired this look with sneakers to keep it really casual.

I absolutely loved this maxi dress! I dressed it down with booties and edged it up a bit with my favorite black lace bralette. I didn’t want the bottom to get dirty so I tied the bottom up in a knot. Plus, I think it makes the look a little more casual and easy. This dress also works great dressed up for a party or vacation! It comes in a few other colors or patterns and is so comfortable! I wore it to an event at one of my all time favorite hotels, Hotel Saint Cecila, hosted by The Simple Sol.

This little two piece set made me feel like a genie in the best way. It’s such a fun set! We stumbled on this adorable restaurant down the street from where we were staying. It has SUCH a good vibe and the menu is incredible. I edged up this look a bit with some snakeskin booties. A few of you asked me what size I ordered in this set so for reference, I got a XS. The top was a little loose, but has a stretchy back that could be easily taken in as needed! I loved this mint green color, but it comes in a few others, too.

I wore this little slip dress to an event with The Vision Council and The Jane Club at the most gorgeous home. It’s such a lightweight and easy piece and I loved the subtle print! It comes in a few other colors, too. I styled it with booties to keep it casual and comfortable for walking around.

I think this little two piece set was my most popular look from the weekend! I got stopped on the street a few times with people asking where it was from! I wore it with the jacket closed up as a crop top, but it looks so cute with a top or bodysuit underneath it and the jacket open, too. It comes in a few other colors, including an off-white one that I am lusting after. I’m wearing an XS in this for reference. The shorts are more of a relaxed fit.

I love a good kimono weather I’m wearing them with shorts, over a dress, or even as a swimsuit cover up. This one comes in a few pattern and color options! I styled it over a bodysuit and these shorts that I love. I bought my true size in these shorts for reference. I am obsessed with booties styled with shorts so adding boots was a no brainer.

Another two piece set! What can I say, I love them. This one is a full ruched styled skirt and a crop top that has an open, tie back. I styled a denim jacket over it, but it would be perfect on it’s own for a beach vacation. For SXSW I decided to pair it with a fun pair of white booties, which are currently on sale and so comfortable!

This is the most comfortable swing dress! It comes in several colors and is the softest material. I love this for lounging around or for a casual day out and about with sneakers. I styled it here with booties and a hat! This was taken up on the cutest restaurant/bar, P6, which I will for sure be going back to when I am back in Austin in May. I’m working on my LONG overdue Austin city guide for you all, which include this adorable spot along with tons of my other favorites.

You can’t go wrong with jeans and a t-shirt! I had been sleeping in the only other one I packed, so I am thankful the team at Michael Stars gave me this one when I met with them. They make THE best quality t-shirts. I’ve been living in these jeans lately. They are high waisted and have just the right amount of give. I highly recommend if you’re needing a new spring pair. I’m in my true size.

I wore this adorable ruched, floral dress for an event with Goop and LensCrafters. It has a really cute tie detail on the sleeves. It was a little chilly this evening, so I styled my favorite denim moto jacket over it and of course, paired it with booties. You can never go wrong with boots in Texas! This dress comes in a few other colors, including an adorable black printed version.

Another comfortable swing dress! I wore this one to go to Paperboy, the cutest little food truck with such good food. I had been loading up on tacos and all the good food during this trip, so I was so happy to have something flowy and easy to put on. I wore it off the shoulder, but you can also wear it on. There are several color options in this dress, too.

This two piece set seriously feels like I’m wearing pajamas. It is THE softest cotton. It comes in a ton of colors and is a great price point. I dressed it up for a night out here with these fun snakeskin booties, but it also looks so cute with sneakers for a travel look or for running around town. This is one of those things you’ll get SO much use out of. You can wear the two pieces together or separately.

I hope this roundup of my SXSW outfits help give you some inspiration on what to wear to Austin and what to wear for SXSW. I know it makes it easier to have everything to shop in one place! I’m working on getting some outfits together for my upcoming trip this weekend to Mexico.
